Choosing a chainsaw over scissors for a ribbon cutting was Ben Wright (center), who posed with family members, co-workers and Berryville Chamber of Commerce representatives during an official ribbon cutting ceremony at the new Sears store in Berryville. Ben's parents Brian and Shirley Ann Wright opened the store in November in the Williams Shopping Center. Ben works there part-time along with his brother Jacob. The new Doggie Thrift Store in Berryville had a grand opening celebration Tuesday, complete with a ribbon cutting ceremony, door prizes, raffles, food and beverages. Presiding over the ribbon cutting were Berryville Chamber of Commerce members and Good Shepherd Humane Society volunteers, along with GSHS board members John Reeve, Charles Fredrick and Cheryl Johnson. The store is open from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday in the former Brashears Furniture building on South Springfield Street. Berryville Chamber of Commerce members hosted a ribbon cutting at St. John's Therapy to coincide with a 10 year celebration of the center and an open house at its new facility, located on U.S. Hwy. 62 at the west end of Berryville, across from Barrow's Excavation. According to Jodie Hill, therapy services director, the center was located next to Economy Drug nine years and moved to the new site in January. She said staff and clients like the atmosphere and the added privacy the private treatment rooms offer.
